Game Review

• Frostpunk 2 launched last week and IGN gave it a great review. The game picks up 30 years after the original, and the world is still an icy wasteland, with society just as chaotic as ever. This sequel is much larger in scope—while the first game had you finishing the campaign with around 800 citizens, Frostpunk 2 starts you off with a population 10 times that size.

  As a city builder, the increased scale feels like a bit of a downgrade, making the city feel more distant and less personal. But as a society sim, it’s just as captivating as the original, keeping you hooked with its deep, challenging choices. (IGN)

Playstation’s Classics Are Quietly Making a Comeback

PS Plus Premium is quietly building a solid collection of hidden gems from PlayStation’s past, and it’s something fans definitely should be keeping an eye on, especially with the brand’s 30th anniversary around the corner. Plus, with that shiny new PS5 hardware up for pre-order soon, both long-time PlayStation lovers and newcomers alike have a lot to be excited about.

Sure, Sony could step it up, particularly with its official emulator not quite matching the upscaling power of third-party options. But what’s really standing out is the way old classics are getting a fresh start with the addition of Trophies.

Just this week, the fan-favorite PS2 TimeSplitters trilogy got updated with Platinum Trophies, which for many is the perfect excuse to jump back in. And let’s not forget iconic PS1 games like G-Police, Jumping Flash!, and Intelligent Qube, which now come with their own set of achievements to unlock as well.

• FaZe Clan members were hit with a terrifying swatting incident during their Twitch subathon on September 19. Someone pretending to be a 60-year-old called 911, claiming they’d just committed a double murder and gave the address of FaZe Clan’s mansion in Los Angeles. Viewers on the stream witnessed the chaotic moment police arrived, hearing the megaphone demand that the streamers come out with their hands up. (gamerant)

• Minecraft on PS5, something people have been waiting forever for. It was a hot topic during those spicy FTC hearings about the Xbox-Activision deal. Xbox boss Phil Spencer didn’t hold back either, saying Sony was being a bit “reluctant” about giving up those PS5 dev kits. But fast forward to today, and it looks like Microsoft finally got what they needed. Minecraft is officially coming to the PS5 on October 22. (gamesradar)
