This May Be the Best Look at the Nintendo Switch 2 Yet
Last week brought a flurry of new details about the much-anticipated Nintendo Switch 2, thanks to leaks from case manufacturers and a Redditor named "NextHandheld." Notably, NextHandheld claims hands-on experience with a retail unit, sharing photos of the dock, controller rail, and kickstand. These suggest significant upgrades over the original Switch.
Photos hint at a dock retaining the original ports (USB-A, HDMI, ethernet, USB-C) but with design tweaks hinting at improved cooling and higher power output. Reports also point to magnetic Joy-Cons featuring drift-resistant Hall effect joysticks, a long-awaited fix for controller issues. Meanwhile, a robust U-shaped kickstand promises better stability.
The Switch 2 is expected to feature an 8-inch IPS LCD and maintain backward compatibility with original Switch games. Speculation includes a possible January announcement, ahead of its March 2025 official launch window.
However, key details like storage, performance, and exact features remain elusive. With potential for extra power when docked and improved ergonomics, the Switch 2 could be a worthy successor.
